Carbon Offsets
Carbon Offsets are certificates representing the reduction or capture of one metric ton of carbon dioxide (CO2) or its equivalent in other greenhouse gases. Offsets, or carbon reductions, are verified and then can be used to net against your organization’s total emissions, ultimately reducing your carbon footprint.
Carbon Offsets make environmental and economic sense for emissions that are more difficult to reduce. Carbon Offsets can be used to balance Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
Purchase carbon offsets separately or bundled with your natural gas to negate up to 100% of the carbon emissions in the natural gas you use each year.

Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)
Renewable Natural Gas is a gaseous fuel produced from biogenic waste such as animal manure, municipal solid waste, or food waste. Its molecular structure is identical to natural gas, making it suitable to use with any existing natural gas-powered processes. RNG is a carbon-neutral fuel option companies can use to address their scope 1 emissions and reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. Unlike other scope 1 reduction products, RNG decreases your facility’s emissions rather than offsetting them by reducing emissions elsewhere.
RNG is a viable emission reduction strategy for all scope 1 emissions, including thermal applications, power generation, or as a fleet vehicle fuel.
RNG can be purchased as a percent of natural gas usage or in a fixed volume and is delivered via a verified certificate that conveys all environmental attributes, allowing for reduced emission environmental claims.

Responsibly Sourced Gas (RSG)
Responsibly Sourced Gas (RSG), or Certified Gas, is natural gas that exceeds certain methane emission intensity thresholds and meets other Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria. Independent third-party verification companies assess criteria that differ between various standards but generally focus on methane and other air emissions, water use, water quality, and land use.
RSG has the same molecular structure as the traditional natural gas you buy today, with the added benefit of reduced impact on the environment during the production process. That reduced impact helps producers meet various Net-Zero and reduced carbon goals. But more importantly, RSG allows you, the end-user, to purchase natural gas that has reduced or zero Scope 3 emissions to satisfy your own Net-Zero and carbon reduction goals.
Certified natural gas can be transferred as RSG certificates or as environmental credits called Methane Performance Certificates (MPCs). RSG certificates let producers demonstrate how environmentally preferred their product is by reporting to the end user the amount of methane emissions associated with their gas production. This allows end users to report Scope 3 emissions more precisely. MPCs go one step further and quantify their methane emissions vs. a national average. Then, they create MPCs in a volume equal to 1 MPC for every 1 MMBtu of natural gas production with zero methane emissions.
At your request, we can match 100% of your natural gas supply with RSG to reduce or eliminate Scope 3 emissions from the production of that gas.
Twin Eagle’s RSG will be sourced from certified North American production and retired annually on your behalf.
Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
A Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) represents the positive environmental attributes of one megawatt hour (MWh) of electricity generated from a renewable electricity resource. Purchasing RECs supports the development of new renewable electricity generation facilities, like solar, wind, geothermal and biomass and helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
RECs are a flexible and inexpensive tool to lower emissions associated with purchased electricity, also known as Scope 2 emissions.
RECs can be purchased in a fixed volume, standalone contract and are delivered annually via certificates that convey all environmental attributes, allowing for reduced Scope 2 emission claims.
Twin Eagle’s RECs will be sourced from North American wind farms and retired on your behalf in an online tracking system of our choice.
